To develop a deeper understanding of research as a foundation for modern business planning, students from the Hospitality Management (HM) program of Eastern Visayas State Universityโ€“Burauen Campus (EVSU-BC) attend the Orientation on the Introduction to Research and Modern Business Planning today, April 24, at the Human Resource Development Center (HRDC) Hall.

Anchored with the theme โ€œBuilding the Future through Research and 21st Century Business Models,โ€ the activity aims to enable participants to understand the role of research in business planning, explore adaptive and iterative frameworks, and utilize research in identifying trends for future-ready enterprises.

Prof. Darlene D. Monteros, Head of the Hospitality and Tourism Management Department, delivers the welcome remarks, emphasizing the role of students as future innovators and leaders in the industry.

โ€œWe gather here not merely as participants in a seminar, but as future thinkers, innovators, and leaders who will shape industries and communities through knowledge and strategic action,โ€ she said.

Meanwhile, Mr. John Clark M. Mesias, BCNHS Research Coordinator, discusses research as the foundation of the modern enterprise, while Prof. Nenita Macalinao of the BEMD faculty presents emerging entrepreneurial trends and frameworks in the 21st century.

In an interview, Princess Conde, a second-year HM student, shares that the orientation enhances her understanding of research in building business plans, particularly in anticipating outcomes and setting clear goals for future endeavors.

โ€œThrough this orientation, I understood the importance of studying possible outcomes that may affect a business. It helped me realize the value of setting goals and objectives early,โ€ she expressed.

The activity also includes a post-test, awarding of certificates, and seminar evaluation.

The event concluded with closing remarks from Prof. Phoebe Anne T. Arteche, program coordinator, who encourages students to value collaboration and maintain a positive outlook throughout their academic journey.
